GTK seeks for cooperation with Finnish companies for international activities.

TIME

Tuesday 9.4.2019

PLACE

Holiday Club Tampere Spa

Lapinniemenranta 12, 33180 Tampere

Aim of the meeting
GTK seeks for cooperation with Finnish companies for international activities. International projects tend to become more and more transdisciplinary, therefore a cooperation between different companies becomes more attractive. Finland has an increasing chance to participate in international tenders as donors are increasingly seeking for higher quality tenders, rather than the cheapest one (e.g. the Asian Development Bank – ADB and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development – EBRD). The aim of the meeting is to exchange experience and views and to seek for cooperation potential.

Background information
GTK has considerable experience in international overseas projects since the 1990s. Our main activities are in Eastern and Southern Africa and Central and South East Asia. Growing opportunities are in Western Asia and South America.

The traditional fields of our projects are:
– geological and geochemical mapping
– airborne geophysical interpretation
– mineral potential

We also have substantial international experience in:
– Geodata management
– GIS systems
– data storage and archiving
– mineral policy

Increasingly we are looking at several environmental aspects in mining and mine water management and we work in the fields of groundwater management and managed aquifer recharge, natural hazard assessment and risk management. Fields of increasingly political and societal concern are projects on climate change adaption and food security.

In order to compile competitive consortia and tenders, GTK needs innovative and reliable partners, not only from the research perspective but increasingly also the private sector. At the same time GTK would be glad to support Finnish institutes and the private sector to enchance their internationalization.
